On Thursday 22nd May, Little Voices were invited to entertain the ladies of the Alexandra Women’s Club before their annual meeting at the Beacon Centre.
We arrived in good spirits and took our places in front of the expectant audience. Our repertoire included some classic 1940s WWII songs, songs from the movies and pop favourites. The choir songs were interspersed with soloists taking centre stage with choir backing. The set concluded with a firm choir favourite ‘Mr Blue Sky’ by ELO.
It was lovely to see the ladies singing along with familiar lyrics, their smiles, and their generous applause.
Before being invited to join them for tea and biscuits, we were thanked and praised for our ‘mellifluous’ voices. We took it as a compliment, but did have to check just to make sure!

We have already been booked to perform again next year, which is a great honour and is establishing links with the community that, as a society, we value hugely.
