Production Team

If you are interested in getting involved in the Production Team, or want to learn more about a particular role, please get in contact with the committee!

Creative Team

The Director oversees the artistic vision of the production. They interpret the script and guide the actors, designers, and crew to create the performance they envision.

Directors may want an assistant to help with rehearsals, notes and coordination. They could also lead smaller scenes or help manage scheduling.

The Musical Director is in charge of teaching music and vocals for a show. They may also arrange music, especially for a pantomime where the songs are not always set.

If using a band, the Musical Director will organise and rehearse with them to ensure musical quality and timing for the performance.

The Producer is the project manager and administrator of the production. They make sure the show can actually happen – on time, on budget, and with everything in place. Their responsibilities include:

  • Planning and Coordination
  • Budgeting and Finance
  • Team Building
  • Scheduling
  • Liaison and Communication
  • Marketing and Publicity oversight

The Choreographer designs and teaches dance or movement routines for the performance. They need to ensure that the choreography firts the story, the music, and the cast’s abilities.

Backstage Team

The Stage Manager is the link between the artistic vision and the practical reality. They make sure everyone knows what’s happening, when, and how – and they keep the production running safely and consistently. They need to keep track of things like props, costume needs, set changes and technical requirements. They will also be in charge of calling cues for lighting, sound and set.

The Lighting Tech plans lighting effects and operates lighting during performances. They will create mood, focus, and atmosphere on the stage.

The Sound Tech manages microphones, sound effects and playback. They will balance levels during rehearsals and performances.

Stage Hands support the Stage Manager backstage. They help with props, set changes, and running the show during performances.

Design Team

Set Design are in charge of designing and organising construction of the set. They will work with the Director to match the visual style of the show.

The Costume manager designs or sources costumes that fit the setting, period, and characters. They oversee fittings and costume maintenance.

The Props manager finds or creates props used by the actors onstage. They keep the props organised and ensure they are set correctly for each scene.

Band

Shows are always better with a live band instead of a pre-recorded backing track. The band work with the Musical Director to rehearse and provide backing for the performers.

Tuesday Night Gang

‘The Graham’s’ head our Tuesday Night Gang – all of whom are invaluable members of Amdrams.

The Tuesday Night Gang meet every Tuesday night (surprise surprise) and build and paint the sets and props that you see in our shows, as well as doing lots of jobs to upkeep Amdrams HQ – Adastra House.

Tuesday Night Gang are always looking for new members so please do get in touch if you think you’d like to join. No requirement to be onstage at all!

We need both males and females who are 18+ to join – there is even a tea/coffee break and biscuits!

Other Roles

The Prompt gives cues to actors to help them remember forgotten lines or movements during a rehearsal or a performance.

The Front of House team welcome the audience and manage seating and safety. This can include ushers, box office staff, programme sellers, and organising raffle draws.

A Chaperone is a person who has the care and control of a child performer, acting in the place of a parent, to ensure their health, safety and well-being.

Chaperones must be over 18 and have a licence (please contact committee or JTW leads to find out more about this).
